Thursday, July 07, 2005 My europe trip has been nothing short of amazing. I've gone to so many places, met so many people, eaten so much good food, seen so many wonders of the world and shopped so much that if i would die satisfied. The fact that we planned our itinery from scratch made me appreciate the travel even more, rather then we just tagged along for some organised tour. We got to experience much more at our leisure. The pictures were awesome and the company was great, i made a travel journal and going to compile a travel scrapbook, then u all can see. I can onli post a few photos online coz' we took like 4000+photos within my group of 5.Highlights of the trip: Missing a flight from Beauvais near Paris to go to Venice because our damn taxi driver(yes! and we paid 130euros as our fare) was lost in the suburbs. Our flight was at 1830, we reached like 10mins aft gate closed and we thot the flight was delayed so we stil happily set there eating cherries. When the gate still remained close at 1830, then we sensed sth wrong and checked to our horror that it has departed. Luckily the guys were really calm, i think i would have freaked myself out horribly. Imagine being stuck in a small airport in a small town with nothing in the surroundings at all! The next available flight was at 10am the next day which means we gotta stay overnight in the town. we couldn't sleep at the airport coz' it's closed at 10pm. there was no cab in that area(amazingly) coz' it was too ulu from civilisation so we waited and waited before we managed the taxi company could find one willing driver to fetch us. It sent us to the Beauvais town centre and we lugged our luggage around for the next 4 hours trying to find a hotel room. It's unbelievable that there was no available room in the whole town. the people were really friendly as they seldom have foreign visitors in town, let alone 5 chinese youths lugging their luggage around. Most of them can't speak English so there wasn't much help we could get till we came across this man who helped us to such a great extent that i don't think i've ever been so indebted to a stranger. He told us to stay put while he ran around looking for hotels for us. when he couldn't find and the sun was starting to set at 10, he brought us back to his house at the local theatre and introed us to his family and gave us drinks. Turned out he is Mr. France 2005 5th place!!!!!!!! He's a model and a threatrette teacher, should have seen the drool on val and my face. He called his cousin and together they fetched 5 of us to the outskirts to comb for lodging, it's amazing tt there was none. Finally we found one at the place where we first met him in the town centre and he even offered to come and fetch us early in the morning to the airport! oh my Lord, i think if we were lost in Paris, we would have died on the streets. and it made me think: would i have done that for any stranger? That night, i went to bed with the weight of gratitude on my shoulders, if he ever comes to Singapore to visit, we're gonna treat him like a king.
