The faithful old valentine's here again, time of the year when florists, hallmark and Goldiva get all excited, guys start breaking their piggybanks, girls start looking out for the latest tiffany collection, singles start worrying about how to avoid the lovey-dovey and desperates trying to clinch a date. It's a whole gigantic charade which we all willingly participate in. In spite of the futility we know we're getting ourselves into, we are all willing victims to this so-called festival in celebration of love. Does one rose mean you're my one and only? Does 5 roses mean (love)x5 or (love^5)? Is the amount spent on gifts and flowers and chocolates directly proportionate to the love one harbours? The emphasis on materialism and rituals have blinded us and we all engage in this so-called celebration of love with aplomb. And all i want is to cuddle up under the duvet.
